The Aircraft (Airplane) Bill of Sale is a legal document provided to prove the legal sale and purchase of an aircraft between two parties, business or private. The document will provide information with regard to the aircraft, the buyer, seller and any other information required for the purchase of any plane/aircraft. Once the buyer has had the aircraft inspected and completes payment, complete this document to provide proof of purchase and for registration of the aircraft. For further information regarding the aircraft, one may wish to review the information available by entering the aircraft serial number into the FAA Lookup Tool.

Once the sale is complete the purchase must be recorded with the FAA. One may record this information by completing Form AC 8050-2  – Send the completed document and $5.00 in certified funds by United States Postal Service to the following address:

How to Write

Step 1 – Download the document –

  • Enter the date of the document in dd/mm/yyyy
  • Enter the name of the buyer
  • Enter the buyer’s mailing address
  • AND
  • Enter the name of the seller
  • Enter the seller’s mailing address

Step 2 – Aircraft – Agreement Between Parties – Enter the aircraft information as follows:

  • Make
  • Model
  • Registration Number
  • Serial Number
  • Year

Buyer must read the seller’s statement pertaining to the freedom of any liens/encumbrances

Step 3 – Price – Enter:

  • The amount to be paid in U.S Dollars that will be due on delivery of the aircraft

Step 4 – Delivery – Provide the following information:

  • Enter the amount that the buyer has agreed to pay the seller (due upon delivery of the aircraft)

Step 5 – Deposit – In the field provided, enter:

  • The amount of deposit that will be paid by the buyer to the seller
  • Select one of the boxes:
  • (Deposit) – Non Refundable
  • OR
  • Refundable – enter the circumstances in which the deposit would be refundable into the lines provided on the document

Step 6 – Inspection Period – Enter:

  • The number of days that the seller will allow the buyer for proper mechanical inspection, prior to transfer of possession

It’s advisable that the buyer does have the plane inspected inasmuch as the seller will offer not warranties and will be held harmless for any defects after the sale

Step 7 – Titled Sections – Both parties must review and agree to all of the remaining sections as follows prior to provision of signatures, as follows:

  • Inability to Perform
  • Taxes
  • Assignment
  • Notice of Parties
  • Laws (Enter the state where the aircraft is being sold)
  • Waiver
  • Severability

Step 8 – Signatures – Enter as follows:

  • Buyer(s) Signature(s)
  • Print Buyer’s Names
  • AND
  • Buyer(s) Signature(s)
  • Print Seller(s) Name(s)
  • AND
  • Witnesses Signature(s)
  • Witnesses Printed Name(s)

Once the document has been completed, make copies and provide the original to the buyer
