Alaska Last Will and Testament Template

Updated November 10, 2023

An Alaska last will and testament is a legal document that ensures a person’s personal and real property will be distributed in the manner they desire after death. A testator can name the intended beneficiaries on the will, such as family members, friends, or others with whom they wish to leave all or a portion of their property. The testator must create the document while they are of sound mind and possess physical and mental competence.

Signing Requirements

Two witnesses, preferably individuals who are not beneficiaries of the will.[1]

State Definition

“‘Will‘ includes a codicil and a testamentary instrument that merely appoints an executor, revokes or revises another will, nominates a guardian, or expressly excludes or limits the right of an individual or class to succeed to property of the decedent passing by intestate succession.”[2]
