Rhode Island 24-Hour Notice to Quit Form | Illegal Activity

Updated July 18, 2023

A Rhode Island 24-hour notice to quit is a document typically used by landlords when there are concerns of a tenant dealing with the illegal usage of drugs, certain other controlled substances, or a crime committed on or near the premises. By law, the landlord is not legally required to give a 24-hour notice to quit, in fact, the landlord doesn’t need to give any notice at all and may go directly to court to file a complaint.

It’s always best to try to solve things out of court and by serving this notice, there is a chance the tenant will move out upon your demand. After the landlord files a complaint with the court, the defendant (tenant) will have 20 days to respond.
