Michigan 7-Day Notice to Quit Form | Non-Payment of Rent

Updated July 18, 2023

A Michigan 7-Day Notice to Quit (Non-Payment), also called a “Demand,” is a rental notice used to inform a tenant of unpaid rent, which they will have 7 days to cure the breach. If the tenant decides to move out within 7 days, they may still be liable to pay rent. The state of Michigan provides court-approved notices for landlords to use which can be downloaded on the left side of this page.

After completing the form and filling in all the necessary information including the tenant’s name and address, amount of money needed to cure the breach, the landlord’s name and signature, use one of the following methods to serve the tenant:

  • The best choice, if possible, is by personal delivery.
  • If the tenant is not present, it is recommended to deliver the notice to another adult present on the property that will relay the notice to the tenant.
  • Send by first-class mail to the tenant’s address.
