A Montana boat bill of sale is a legal document that proves the legal sale and purchase of a boat in the State of Montana. This form also proves the change of ownership and includes important information about the buyer, seller, and. It is required for registering a boat with the state.

Registering a Boat
Boats that are motorized and twelve (12) feet or longer are required to be registered with the state of Montana. Registrations are permanent, but the validation decals must be renewed every three (3) years. Decal renewals can be processed through the Fish, Wildlife, and Parks office in-person or online.

New boat owners apply for registration at their local county treasurer.
