The livestock bill of sale is for the transfer of possession of any farm animal including but not limited to: (cows), pigs, horses, chickens, hens, etc. The buyer and seller shall come to an agreement using this document and schedule a date of sale where the animals will be presented along with the monetary funds for the transfer of possession. The buyer is allowed, and recommended, to inspect or have a third party examine the health of the animal(s) between the agreement date and date of sale. If there are no health issues, the sale shall be finalized after the exchange has been made, with the bill of sale being authorized (recommended with two (2) witnesses, and/or notary public).

How to Write

Step 1 – Dates –

  • Enter the date in which the document has been created between buyer'(s) and seller(s)
  • Enter the date in which the transfer of sale is intended to take place upon delivery and payment

Step 2 – The Parties – Provide the following:

  • The name of the owner/seller of the livestock
  • The owner’s/seller’s mailing address
  • The City
  • The State
  • AND
  • The buyer’s Name
  • The buyer’s mailing address
  • The City
  • The State

Step 3 – Livestock Descriptions – Enter the description of any of the livestock that will be sold during this transaction by providing the following with regard to each type of livestock –

  • Number
  • Color
  • Kind
  • Brand
  • Weight
  • Any other information necessary

There is room on this form proper, for descriptions of up to 5 animal types. If more space is required, you may record them on a continued blank sheet and attach the additions to this document.

Step 4 – Purchase Terms – Complete the following fields as follows:

  • Enter the agreed purchase price in total, between the parties
  • The buyer must check one of the following options:
  • The buyer shall make a deposit to be credited  against the sales price date of sale
  • OR
  • Buyer will not make a deposit

Step 5 – Inspection – Both parties must read and agree to this section of the document with regard to inspection and purchase of livestock.

Step 6 – Signatures – Enter:

  • Buyer’s Signature
  • Date of signature
  • Printed name of buyer
  • AND
  • Seller’s Signature
  • Date of signature
  • Printed name of buyer
  • AND
  • Witness’ Signatures
  • Date of signatures
  • Printed name of signatories

Step 7 – Certificate of Acknowledgement –

  • Should the parties choose to use the services of a state Notary Public, the notary will complete the acknowledgement certificate and acknowledge the sale by affixing the state seal to the document
